There’s a misconception out there that blues is about people feeling sad. In fact, the kind of rocking, guiitar- and horn-driven blues you get from a Hardline Blues Band show can work miracles on soothing shattered spirits and getting toes tapping.
“That’s the thing about the blues,” says frontman Jeremy Loome. “It’s an emotional expression as much as a creative one, and that’s what fuels it as an art form. It was founded in suffering and has offered great joy and even just good ol’ dumb good times. That’s why we all love it so much: every time you play, you have a chance to connect with an audience that’s gone through all the same good and bad times. And of course, it kicks ass to dance to.”
The various band members have wide interests and backgrounds in rock, funk and jazz playing on the Edmonton roots scene, and all come into play on the debut full-length recording, There Goes the Neighbourhood, Live at Blues on Whyte.(Click below for samples), which the band sells at gigs. An upcoming studo recording of original roots, blues and blues rock will be released in 2008.
The Hardline Blues Band are Rustin McAllister, Don Seller,Greg Lintz, Doug Crighton, , Jeremy Loome, Jonny McCormack and Wolf Radke.
The band played about 40 dates in 2007, including more than 20 at Blues on Whyte in Edmonton, and expects to increase that this year.
