In December in Edmonton, it’s damn cold. But inside local taverns and bars, things are heating up. The Hardline Blues Band has hit the stage, and that means people are ready to move. The guitars offer springy, classic tones and driving shuffles; the horns are stone cold soul. The dance floor goes for hours, rarely letting up. “This is why we do what we do,” says band leader Jeremy Loome. “We play the blues to feel the soul and drive the beat, and that’s it. The rest is just gravy.”
